My idiot beagle, disappointed at being denied ice cream.
This stupid jerk woke me up at 4:45 AM to go out, then tried to chase a skunk. Nearly got him too...apparently the skunk felt more like running away than spraying. Thank God for that.
Happy National Dog Day, you lovable idiot.

I guess it all depends on your point of reference. And whether or not it makes the playlist on an oldies radio station, for those who remember radio.

Yes! She’s a Miniature, or close enough; As a rescue dog the purity of her lineage is somewhat up in the air. I’m not surprised that you’ve never seen one of her colour before; It’s unrecognized by any of the Kennel Clubs that I know of, so Purebreeds never have it by definition.
I can see why they don’t recognize it, though; It’s technically not a colour at all. Technically she’s a Chocolate-coloured Dachshund with a recessive gene that gives her a form of genetic Alopecia; None of the darker hairs ever grew in the first place. The vets warned us that this could lead her at risk of sunburn and hair loss, so we’ve been keeping an eye on things, but we’ve had her for three years now and she’s doing fine so far.
Back me up on this, Bella.
Bella?
Seems like all that explaining tuckered her out!

My wife has a couple of dogs. They’re
her
dogs, but I enjoy them well enough. They certainly are devoted to
me
. The one acts like a service dog, following me around and
worrying
about me if she thinks I’m raising my voice about anything. Still, it’s important to me to keep an emotional and rational barrier in place because they are, after all,
animals
.
$kaycog

I know they’re animals, but it’s hard to keep that barrier in place.

I share that with you because you seem like a thoughtful woman. And I know you love dogs. My wife certainly enjoys hers. Immensely. Even when you keep that barrier in place, there is still a relationship as you and the animal get to know each other. I would probably never take one as a pet because I wouldn’t want the responsibility.
